Hrvoje Laurenta
Born on 14 August 1981 in Split, Croatia. He lives and works in Zagreb. Between 2002 and 2009 he launched and/or organised more than 30 cultural, artistic and educational projects and programmes. In 2003 he became the coordinator and in 2008 the executive director of Zagreb Film Festival, where he is currently employed. Since 2008 he has acted as the executive director of Zagreb’s Europa Cinema, one of the most important independent cultural and artistic institutions in this part of Europe. In 2016 Europa received the award for best programming given by the Europa Cinemas network, which is the greatest international honour given to a Croatian cultural institution since the independence. Between 2011 and 2015 he was a board member of the CICAE global art-house cinema network and since 2016. he is an associate of the Europa Cinemas network. In 2013 as a speaker and participant at roundtables across Europe he spoke about innovations in culture, cultural policies and management, and cinema exhibition. In 2014 he was elected President of the Croatian Network of Independent Cinemas. In 2017 the Croatian Producers Association honoured him with the annual Albert Kapović Award for outstanding work in the promotion of film art. He is a member of the European Film Academy and Croatian Producers Association.
