Dubravko Merlić, producer, screenwriter, and TV format creator, graduated in Croatian language and literature from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb in 1983. From 1986 to 2001, he worked as a journalist, editor in chief, and presenter at RTV Zagreb and Croatian Radio and Television. The television shows he designed and ran were "News on the Second Channel" (1990/91) and "Frame by Frame" (1992–1997), for which in 1995 the Croatian Journalists' Association declared him Journalist of the Year. From 2000 to 2001, he was the editor-in-chief of the HRT News Division and the host of Dnevnik. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as Director of Communications at Pliva. In 2003, he founded the production company Castor Multimedia. In 2004, he created the original TV format "The Pyramid," which was broadcast for several seasons in eight countries, including Canada. In 2007, “The Pyramid“ won the most prestigious international TV award, the Rose d'Or (Golden Rose), in the Best Show of the Year category. From 2005 to 2007, Dubravko Merlić hosted the show "Counterplan“. From 2008 to 2013 he worked as a TV format creator and media entrepreneur. In 2014, he became the director of the news channel "N1". In 2015, he returned to the Castor Multimedia company, where he produced two seasons of the documentary series "Survival", the documentary series "One and Only", and the documentary series "Modern Times". In 2020, with the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Center, he developed a script for the drama series "Shadows in the Dark".
